  • January 5, 2027 – Orientation @ 9:00 a.m.

  • January 25 START ***FIRST DAY OF 2nd SEMESTER IS JAN. 19

  • January 26 – Orientation @ 9:00 a.m.

  • February 8 START

  • February 23 – Orientation @ 9:00 a.m.

  • March 8 START

  • March 23 – Orientation @ 9:00 a.m.

  • April 12 START (34 days of school left – last start date of the year)

  • May 11 – Orientation @ 9:00 a.m. THIS IS FOR FALL WAITING LIST ONLY.

26-27 Quarters – Do not have a CHS start date on a quarter as AMP gets busy

  • Quarter 1 - August 27 - October 30, 2026
  • Quarter 2 - November 2, 2026 - January 15, 2027
  • Quarter 3 - January 19 - March 19, 2027
  • Quarter 4 - March 22 - May 27, 2027

The rationale for establishing starting dates provides the office and staff time to prepare for the new students and provides the opportunity to start new students in a cohort where they can have some common experiences with other new students. It also provides a delay transferring to CHS that may allow a cooling off period and reflection time to think about what is in their best interest. Orientations last about one hour.

Students with an IEP or ILP must discuss the transfer with their case manager and gain approval of the transfer. This transfer request should NOT be automatic. Is this student capable of working independently (reading and writing at a ninth-grade level) to be successful with the course offering available here at CHS? If not, do not approve the transfer.

Students on a 504? Our protocol is to revoke the 504 prior to starting at CHS. After 30 days in the CHS setting, if the 504 is necessary to support the student, a 504 team will convene to write a 504.

Students would still need to go through the transfer request – meet with your counselor to complete the online transfer request form.

Please Note:

  1. Students (and parent/guardian) MUST attend orientation to attend Community High.

  2. If they are not sure about transferring, they should attend orientation anyway, just to have that done.

  3. No student will be enrolled at CHS before attending an orientation.

  4. If an orientation or START is cancelled because of a school closing, it will be held the next school day.

  5. Orientation may be cancelled if we have a waiting list, and we will not be able to accommodate any additional students before the next start date.

  6. All students are also required to pay a $15 registration fee. (Cost of t-shirts, water bottles, binders, food, awards, and other student consumables.)

  7. All students must Check Out of their high school – return all materials, pay all outstanding fines or fees before starting at Community High School.
